We use the product barcode from your point-of-sale system to populate each product profile. If some of your products aren’t appearing, it may be that there isn’t currently enough data available in your point-of-sale to create a good-quality profile.

It may also be that your items are being rejected as they don’t comply with Facebook’s commerce policy.

We’re always working hard to improve our product data quality and get more products online and we’re always keen to hear your feedback - if you notice an item isn’t showing or you have any questions about your product profiles please get in touch using the chat bubble on your right.

What items are restricted by Facebook?

NearSt feeds your in-stock products into Facebook from your inventory management system. There are certain items that won’t appear as they don’t comply with Facebook’s advertising policies.

We’ve picked out some of the restricted products that may affect your shop:

  • Alcohol

  • Animal products (eg. medical and veterinary products)

  • Vitamins

  • Thermometers and first-aid kits

  • Food or drinks that make health or medical claims

  • Nicotine patches

  • Nicotine gum

  • Tobacco and tobacco-related products

You can see more restricted content in Facebook’s commerce policy documents here.

How can I check if my item has been rejected?

You can see any disapproved items in your Commerce Manager account here.

My product has been rejected but it does comply with Facebook's policy

You can easily request a review in your Commerce Manager account by selecting the items and clicking Request Review.

Done! The Facebook shops team will review your request and hopefully approve your item/s.

Just to let you know, the review of products is controlled by Facebook and although we can help advise which products can be reviewed, we are unable to promise that Facebook will approve any reviewed items. As Facebook control which products are visible to your shoppers, you unfortunately will not be able to show any products that Facebook have got in their restricted products list.

We’re here to help! If you notice any of your in-stock items aren’t showing on Facebook and you have already requested a review, please get in touch using the chat bubble to your right.

What items are restricted by Google?

NearSt feeds your shop inventory into Google from your Point Of Sale system. Although rare, Google doesn't allow certain items you might sell to be advertised in their network.

We’ve picked out some of the restricted products that may affect your shop:

  • Tobacco

  • Items containing or used to facilitate the use of tobacco

  • Electronic cigarettes

  • Some teeth-whitening products

Along with obvious counterfeit, illegal, and dangerous items, there are some tamer items that also have restrictions. These include items often stocked by pharmacies.

I own a pharmacy, which items won’t appear?

In the UK, prescription and behind-the-counter drugs aren’t allowed to be promoted in Google.

Google does allow over-the-counter drugs as long as you’re registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and certified by Google.

When you sign up to NearSt, we’ll submit an application to Google to certify you. Once certified, your over-the-counter drugs will be listed.

If you would like to show your over-the-counter drugs, we can submit an application to Google to certify you.

In order to submit product listings for an online pharmacy to Google Shopping you need to:

  1. Be licensed by the local pharmacy accreditation authority

  2. Be certified by Google

To elect to show over-the-counter drugs, please contact us using the chat bubble in the right-hand corner so we can get you certified by Google.

My item isn’t appearing but it isn’t listed above, what should I do?

We’re here to help! If you notice any of your in-stock items aren’t showing in your ‘See What’s In Store’ or if you have any questions, please get in touch using the chat bubble to your right or email [email protected].
